Christopher M. Novak


As Design Director for Microsoft’s Studio RX, Chris Novak creates and produces entertainment software (primarily racing-related) for both Xbox and Microsoft® Windows gaming platforms. Recent titles from his ten-year career in the gaming industry include:

  • Project Gotham Racing® 3 for the Xbox 360®
  • RalliSport Challenge 2 for the Xbox
  • Forza Motorsport™ for the Xbox

Previous to Microsoft, Novak helped found 3D6 Games Inc., a game development firm focused on handheld platforms, where he acted as Executive Producer. Before 3D6 Games, Novak spent more than five years at Electronic Arts Inc. in Redwood Shores, California working on franchises such as NASCAR, Knockout Kings, Andretti Racing, and PGA Tour Golf.

Novak lives near Seattle, WA. He spends much of his free time racing or modifying cars. He’s the reigning regional champion for the Sports Car Club of America’s (SCCA) Non Stock 1 autocross class, where he campaigns his Dodge Viper ACR.

Novak’s racing experience includes testing and instruction for DEVEK Performance Products of Belmont, CA. DEVEK holds a World Land Speed Record with their Porsche 928 test car. Novak has also competed in a wide variety of racing events, including: The Pony Express, an 84-mile high-speed race held in Battle Mountain, NV; The One Lap of America, otherwise known as “The Cannonball;” endurance racing with the National Auto Sport Association (NASA); Solo 2 competition with the SCCA; and performance testing with assorted manufacturers to gather data for racing games. Novak has driven at more than 15 tracks throughout the United States and Europe.

Outside of racing, Novak is a member of MENSA and the Society of Automobile Engineers. He guest lectures at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont, where he sits on the advisory board for the Electronic Game and Interactive Development bachelor’s program.
